Organised by Landscapes of Hope and Action for Hope, this global convening brought together 25 civil society and cultural organisations to explore the intersections of freedom of expression, artistic resistance, and digital justice.
DEF shared insights from its national network of 24 organisations working on language preservation, circular economy, artistic expression, and digital archiving in India. Represented by Osama Manzar, Akanksha Ahluwalia, they highlighted the rising digital divide, showcasing how grassroots digital interventions can foster inclusion, dignity, and expression in marginalised communities.
The platform also facilitated cross-regional dialogue on the shrinking civic space, funding challenges, and authoritarian pressures. DEF committed to archiving the event’s panels and performances digitally, ensuring that the voices and stories from the convening live on. This participation reinforces GDEN’s mission: to use digital and cultural tools to safeguard rights, amplify marginalised voices, and co-create spaces where expression is not only protected—but celebrated.
